Leadership -- the difference between invisibility & anonymity | Pilar Ryan | TEDxHudson About Maria del Pilar Ryan, Founder and President of Gandía Leadership Group: Pilar is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point and earned the M.A. and Ph.D. at the University of Pennsylvania. She served in a variety of command and staff positions, stateside and overseas, during her 27-year Army career, including command of Bravo Battery, 1st Battalion, 30th Field Artillery Regiment, the largest artillery battery in the United States Army at the time. In both her military and academic careers, she has studied and taught how individuals transform organizations and institutions. Pilar has published essays and books in the United States and Europe. She received a number of prestigious fellowships during her career, including a National Endowment for the Humanities Summer Fellowship, and was a full Professor of History and Chief, International Division, Department of History, United States Military Academy at West Point, when she retired from active military duty in 2013. Pilar has led leadership and diversity programs in both the military and civilian worlds. The Women’s Leadership Exchange recognized Pilar with the 2013 Compass Award, awarded to those "who have shifted the paradigm of how women are perceived as leaders." |
